Dr. Friele (OB/GYN) performed my LAVH at Swedish Hospital in Seattle December of 2007. Prior to surgery she made sure I was very well prepared, and fully understood the procedure. Her manner is very caring and sympathetic while at the same time forthright and direct, which I truly appreciated. Even though my uterus was enlarged beyond what was expected, she took the extra time to complete the procedure vaginally, and my 2 scars are each less than 1/2" long. She has a lot of experience, and I'm sure that is one of the reasons I had a very quick and uncomplicated recovery. She had also previously removed fibroids for me. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Dr. Stanhope is a Gyn/Onc with the Mayo Clinic who performed my hysterectomy for possible ovarian cancer. It turned out to be ovarian cancer so my surgery involved the debulking required for cancer. Dr. Stanhope was thorough and available to answer questions. He was excited to tell me that the Grade was a 1 instead of a 2 as the frozen section indicated. I would recommend Dr. Stanhope to anyone facing a hysterectomy for a gynecologic cancer.

This doctor is extremely knowledgable and caring. He specializes in Interstitial Cystits (Painful Bladder Syndrome) and has done many studies and trials for this disease and is very well known in the field of urology. He has helped me immensely and I highly recommend him.

Dr. Coblentz was recommended to me by a friend. He is very informative, patient, thorough, and pleasant. I was having some problems with the UT, although he did not see anything wrong in the UT, through an ultrasound, cystoscope, and CT he did find cysts in my left kidney.

His speciality is rehabilitation. He is trustworthy,comforting, has experience and a nice smile all the time. I had an accident and he was the only one who believed in me and my pain. It took a couple of years but we did it. One surgery later and I'm good to go. He takes the time to listen and makes suggestions. He had the patiences to get to know the real me which was not and easy task. This is what helped me heal and deal with the pain. I went to others and they did not have the patience to listen to me. God gave this man a gift and I'm glad I found him.

Dr. Menefee is a Kaiser Permanente doctor working out of Zion Medical Center in San Diego. He is very progressive in terms of IC and is always on top of new and better treatment protocols. His office staff is wonderful as well. I highly recommend him to anyone who suffers the pain and discomfort of IC.

Another Santa Rosa Kaiser Permanente jewel! Dr. David Bennett, OB-GYN, has been by gynecologist for many years now. He's helped me with some complex related conditions such as vulvodynia, interstitial cystitis and an extremely rare resistent, severe yeast infection which occurred after I spent months doing an antibiotic therapy. He's younger, compassionate, supportive and professional. He listens to my concerns and is also very gentle during procedures. He performed a laparascopy flawlessly several years ago to rule out endometriosis and/or cancer as a potential cause of my pelvic pain. A great guy!

Dr. Loeser helped me tremendously! I suffered with IC (Interstitial Cystitis) for several years. IC nearly destroyed my bladder walls and my life. The pain I suffered was horrific. Other physicians who tried to treat my pain did what they could to help. I used the strongest of the strongest of narcotics. They eased the pain a bit. But, not enough for me to live a pain LESS life.
Dr. Loeser and the team in Uro-gynecology at the UW came up with a treatment plan. I was put through a LOT of testing including psychological testing at the UW Pain Clinic.
After "passing" their criteria I was set up with Dr. Loeser who then surgically implanted an intrathecal pump. The pump is filled with opioid medication that is delivered round the clock in the intrathecal space in the spine.

I was one of those lucky patients who, during my first referral to a urologist for my bladder pain, found a provider who believed that I was suffering and then made every effort to help discover the source of that pain and find treatments to help. Mark Klein, MD, has one of the highest patient approval ratings in Kaiser Permanente and he deserves every accolade. He is kind, patient, understanding, compassionate and does not shy away from exploring treatments. If I have a therapy that I'm interested in trying, he will give me an honest, direct opinion about that therapy and truly work as a partner with me in treating my interstitial cystitis. I can't say enough good things about this gentle physician. He's just my lifeline for my care with IC.
That said, I also have to share just how wonderful his charge nurse, Pam Laughlin, is. When I'm having an IC flare or suspect that I'm having a UTI, I can call Pam and receive the help that I need. Whether its requesting a urine culture or ord... [More..]

When it comes to treating interstitial cystitis, Dr. Burstein is one of the truly compassionate doctors in the USA. He is passionately interested in urologic disorders. He has a zest for knowledge but, unlike some more notable physicians, he's a neutralist. He doesn't push any one approach to treating IC but rather targets therapy based upon your specific symptoms and situation. He understands, implicitly, the devastation of pain in the bladder and pelvis and will work with you to help improve your condition so that you can resume a more normal life. Also provides pelvic floor assessments, etc. etc. Very cheerful, encouraging and experienced.
